Then, we are introduced to Angela in her morning routine: she gets up and makes coffee, uses the smart speaker Kimi to control things like her stereo and television, has flirtations and occasional sexual encounters in her apartment with Terry, the man across the street, sending text messages back and forth. Eventually, she suggests meeting him at the breakfast food truck on the street and prepares to leave.
She reports it to her supervisor, who dismisses it as nothing but eventually refers her to Natalie Chowdhury but Angela struggles to get through to her. To try and get more information, Angela contacts a coworker in Romania who agrees to give her the customer information that pertains to that recording and makes her a dummy ID number so she can get into the database.
However, just as she reaches the office she's surprised by a woman and then jabbed with a needle and, unconscious is thrown in the back of the van. When she wakes she can hear the men talking about how they're going to make it look like she was attacked during a burglary, but as they're carrying her into the apartment they're surprised by a neighbour, Kevin.
