Standing at centre stage during Monday’s Hall induction ceremony, St-Pierre, the eighth woman and first female goaltender enshrined, delivered a speech that captured her history — and served as a call to action for where hockey can go next.
“There are decisions that can change your life,” said the 42-year-old from Chateauguay, Que., who played boys hockey until the age of 18. “When I was eight years old, I asked my parents if I could play hockey. They were probably very, very surprised, but I’m so glad that they decided to let me play.That wouldn’t last.
