We chat with RabbitHole star Kiefer Sutherland (RealKiefer) about what makes his new ParamountPlus series the perfect cocktail of several genres, and how corporate espionage and psychological drama collide:
A genius in the world of corporate espionage, John Weir's life gets turned upside from one moment to the next in Rabbit Hole. The new Paramount+ series stars Kiefer Sutherland, who became a household name in the crime drama genre thanks to his tenure as Jack Bauer on the counterterrorism series 24. But 2023 sees his character John facing a much more advanced and personal form of cyber terror in Rabbit Hole, where he can no one from his employees to his closest friends.
Kiefer Sutherland: First of all, I love the genre. It's my favorite, and clearly I got a big dose of it with 24. But just as a kid growing up, those were the movies that I wanted to watch. I got a call from John and Glenn, who were interested in developing a show that was going to harken back to Three Days of the Condor, Marathon Man, The Parallax View — films like that, and those were the films that I really grew up on and fell in love with.
The family relationships really lean into your character's vulnerability, so what's it like balancing his genius work life with everything going on with his ex-wife and child, not to mention the flashbacks of his father?
