Rae Sremmurd, SZA & Lil Yachty were among the special guests at Khalid’s benefit concert in support of victims of the El Paso shooting
in support of victims of the recent massacre at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.
Khalid, a native of El Paso, hosted and performed at the concert, dubbed A Night For Suncity and held at the Don Haskins Center. Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke and actor Matthew McConaughey were on hand at the event, which raised funds to support the El Paso Shooting Victims’ Fund and the El Paso Community Foundation.
"I have been rocked to the core by the horrific act of gun violence that came to El Paso, and by the continued acts of senseless violence that our country faces daily," Khalid said following the shooting, which claimed 22 lives. "I want to give back to my community of El Paso, the city of the 915, who has given so much to me. Please come out and let's heal together through music while raising money to help those who need it.
The event was jointly presented by Right Hand Foundation, the homelessness-prevention charity run Khalid's manager Courtney Stewart, and the 21-year-old artist's youth-focused The Great Khalid Foundation, which he started in May with his mother, Linda Wolfe, serving as president/chairman.
