KUALA LUMPUR: Former Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) youth chief and activist Khalid Ismath has been freed on police bail after having his statement recorded for allegedly posting a seditious tweet aimed at Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
PSM Youth chief Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul said Khalid, who was detained on Friday night, was freed at the Dang Wangi police headquarters at 12.15pm on Saturday .
"All of our members and activists are always ready to cooperate with the authorities and give statements without the need of detaining us as it will lead to a waste of time and resources for the police in the course of their work," he said in a statement on Saturday ."We are also grateful for all friends of the party in their solidarity in assisting Khalid," he said.
Tunku Azizah has since reactivated her Twitter account to express disappointment over the arrest of an individual who had allegedly posted a seditious tweet aimed at her.
