” music video from 2010 featured an electric midnight blue eye look, with enough glitter to see it from space. These were also the days when she and her band would wear blue eyeliner as lipstick: “I just remember how it was such a pain in the ass to take off because it was liquid eyeliner,” she recalls.
“I like playing with the boundaries of what you're supposed to do with things like art and music and fashion and makeup,” she continues. “So I just think that even though, maybe, I didn't nail every single look and I've ended up on a lot of worst dressed lists, I'm happy that I at least tried once everything I wanted to try.”In creating her own makeup line, Kesha aimed to ensure that it represented her style journey over the past decade as well as possible.
“I think that if you just stayed one thing forever, for me, that wouldn't feel genuine,” she says. “I feel like I'm ever-evolving, as [are] my style and makeup and hair. As you grow and learn about yourself, and learn about different kinds of art, and learn about the world more, you gain more inspiration.”
Part of Kesha’s style evolution has been refusing to hide her freckles any longer, something she endured for many years earlier in her career. In an interview with“Since the very first photo shoot I ever did, I remember at some point someone photoshopped them out,” Kesha says. “So from that moment on, I took that as a hint of this is a flaw, and I then became insecure about it…. But it is something that I now feel so strongly about.
