Kentucky Derby champ Country House has come down with a cough and will not run in the Preakness Stakes on May 18, officials say.
There will be no Triple Crown winner this year, controversial or otherwise.
"He will not be racing in the Preakness ... that’s what we’ve been told," Pimlico spokesman David Joseph told NBC News.that the Derby winner was feeling under the weather and wouldn't be able to adequately prepare for the Preakness. The Preakness is the second jewel of thoroughbred horse racing's three big races: The Kentucky Derby in Louisville, the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore and the Belmont Stakes in New York.
