The Kelowna Rockets traded defenceman Caden Price to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Monday night (Jan. 6), just under three days before the WHL 's trade deadline. Rockets president and general manager Bruce Hamilton said the opportunity to host the Memorial Cup forced the team's hand to move one of their top players. Price played for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships, collecting a goal and an assist in five games.
In 202 career games for the Rockets, Price scored 26 goals and added 122 assists for 148 points. The Seattle Kraken prospect is fifth all-time in Rockets history for assists by a defenceman and seventh all-time for points by a defenceman. Lethbridge Hurricanes general manager Peter Anholt said the team is thrilled to add Price to their group as they try to make a deep playoff run this season. The Hurricanes see Price as a bolster to their defence, an elite defenceman who is a signed guy and can quarterback a power play while also being a strong two-way guy.
