Killing of officers Ryan and Jordan was senseless, but how our community and leaders react offers opportunity to ensure deaths were not vain
in the wake of a catastrophe. Some of this is natural, fuelled by a desire to find meaning in senseless death and regain feelings of control.
I am hoping our police, city and provincial representatives can avoid that here, and instead see this moment as a chance to turn down the temperature, and re-engage in some productive conversations on the If nothing else — though it shouldn’t have been necessary — this calamity must serve as a reminder to everyone of how hazardous police work can be.
