Roegels adds to Katy’s status as growing barbecue destination
When Russell and Misty Roegels moved to Katy 20 years ago, they considered the fast-growing suburb as a possible second location for their Galleria-area barbecue joint, Baker’s Ribs.
The space had previously been a roasted chicken joint, so it already had space for a large rotisserie-style barbecue pit. Russell ordered a custom pit from A.N. Bewley Fabricators, specifying the overall dimensions to be 1 inch less than the size of the front-door opening so that it could be easily rolled into the restaurant and installed.Open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday-Tuesday; 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday-SaturdayThe pit installation happened Dec. 10, and the location officially opened Feb. 5.
There’s Tootsie Tomanetz, Kerry Bexley, and Clay Cowgill of the legendary Snow’s BBQ in Lexington, Joe Duncan of Baker’s Ribs, as well as the team from Texas A&M University’s Meat Science Department.
