Breaking: The Kansas Jayhawks have defeated the University of North Carolina Tar Heels 72-69 to capture their fourth NCAA men’s basketball title.

NEW ORLEANS – Bill Self won his elusive second national title with a masterful second-half coaching job and a spicy dash of Remy Martin.

Self inverted his team’s post play after trying to jam the ball into David McCormack in the first half, getting a couple of early post-ups for Christian Braun to open the second. Forcing the issue in the first half, Martin shot 1 of 5 and had Self yelling at him to pass the ball. The good Remy showed up in the second half, taking the Jayhawks’ already-humming offense to another level.Martin’s shooting and the Jayhawks’ transition game cleared space for McCormack, who finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.Kansas looked like the crisper team early, North Carolina like it was in a post-beating-Duke funk.
