Vice President Kamala Harris was facing “little room for error” as she prepared for her trip to Guatemala and Mexico next week, according to a report.
Prior to being elected vice president, Harris made three trips abroad while serving in previous roles, the outlet reported. She visited U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan while serving as a U.S. senator from California and traveled to Mexico to discuss transnational crime when she was California’s attorney general.
The vice president’s political opponents have been pointing out for weeks that she has opted against traveling to border communities in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California as she has researched what has been driving residents of Central America’s"Northern Triangle" nations to leave their homelands and head to the U.S.
