Justin Fields wishing Chase Claypool “the best,” and saying he’ll keep in touch doesn’t quite suggest the receiver’s return.
It's possible quarterback Justin Fields provided a better hint on a Tuesday when the team had walk-throughs for the Thursday night game at Washington against the Commanders.
"Wish nothing but the best for Chase. I think he knows that he kind of messed up by saying that, but wish him nothing but the best. He's a talented player and he's a great person, has a good heart and works really hard. Definitely going to be staying in touch with him regardless of what happens and wish him nothing but the best."
"Talking about the media, how he just said ... I saw him multiple times ... he really tries to avoid the media," Fields said."So that day, y'all just caught him and, of course, I think if he got asked that again or if he wished he could take it back he would, but of course he can't. It is what it is."
The entire situation seems a distraction to anyone not with the team, and especially so with a game coming on Thursday night. Players don't find it so difficult to look beyond such drama. They definitely weren't bothered by it on offense Sunday when they moved the ball well against Denver.
