The defendant was among those who voted for censure.

Ozark Mayor Mark Blankenship obtained a misdemeanor Harassment warrant after an angry confrontation with Bryant Fontenot.OZARK, Ala. - A specially appointed municipal judge tossed charges filed by the mayor of Ozark, Alabama, against a man who confronted him after a council meeting.

Bryant Fontenot was among those who pushed for the censure of Mayor Mark Blankenship regarding comments he made about books from the Dale County Public Library, which the council did on a 3-2 vote. Following a January 2 council meeting, Blankenship and Fontenot became involved in an angry confrontation, and the next day, Blankenship obtained a misdemeanor Harassment warrant.

However, Judge Barbara Wade ruled that there was no evidence that Fontenot planned to carry out any threat. Attorney Andrew Scarborough applauded Wade’s ruling, telling News4 the case against Fontenot was so weak he did not need to present a defense.
