Mayne Island Tennis Association's petition called a 'self-serving' attempt to maintain control of the courts: judge

In 2007, tennis players enshrined their rights in a written agreement between them and the community centre society to determine who gets to use the courts. The agreement stated the tennis players “are entitled to determine the usage policy,” according to reasons for judgment delivered orally by Justice Jasvinder Basran in Victoria in June and the written judgment was recently posted online.

Months later, at the society’s annual general meeting, five new members were elected to the six-person board and at least three were pickleball association members.Article content The tennis association in its petition argued the society was “unfair and unlawful” in its actions to allow pickleballers access to the courts because the society’s newly formed courts committee usurped the tennis association’s role.Article content
