Jonathon’s opened its new location this week at Forestwood Shopping Center in North Dallas, where it offers its now-classic breakfast and lunch dishes famous...
The husband-wife team of Jonathon and Christine Erdeljac, chef and manager, opened this second restaurant after 25 months of work to fit out the location.
Jonathon’s Forestwood would have been their third restaurant, but in August 2021, the couple closed their first location at 1111 N. Beckley Ave. after their lease ended and they could not reach an agreement with their landlord to renew it.“Lucky for us, we had this location already,” said Jonathon, who is the chef. “We started working on this one, and originally the plan was a quick remodel and turnaround, like maybe three months, but it was a lot more.
The Erdeljacs had to invest money and time in remodeling the space, from plumbing and electricity to roof structure, and they also faced pandemic construction shortages. The new 3,000-square-foot restaurant is now open and can seat 100 people inside and 60 on the front patio. The restaurant features lots of natural light and historic photos of Dallas, like the 1964 State Fair and Love Field Airport in 1947.The menu offers several breakfast options, like fried chicken and waffles and migas, plus salads, burgers, sandwiches, soups, cocktails and wine.“I always like to describe my menu as a collective.
Jonathon’s Forestwood is located at 5337 Forest Lane, and Jonathon’s Diner is at 1619 N. Beckley Ave.
