OTTAWA — Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly met with her new British counterpart Monday for the first time since the Labour Party took power in the United Kingdom last week.
The massive shift in the country's political landscape saw the Conservative government ousted after 14 years in power. Joly's office said ahead of her meeting that the two were expected to discuss ways to"deepen bilateral relations" between the countries. The two had also planned to exchange views on transatlantic security, support for Ukraine and the war in the Middle East.
