If there is such a thing as a no-brainer signing, David Robertson might fall into that category for the Mets.
A still dependable reliever who has pitched for a World Series winning team with the Yankees and handled all that comes with performing in the New York spotlight, Robertson fit the criteria of what the Mets were seeking this offseason.
“They want to win,” Robertson said. “I want to win. I am not getting any younger. I want to be on a team that wants to win, I want to be in a competitive city in a good market and that is what the New York Mets have to offer.” It’s a homecoming of sorts for Robertson, who pitched with the Yankees from 2008-14 — much of that time in a setup role for Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera.
