After ‘Adele Dazeem’ in 2014, whose name might John Travolta get wrong this year?
Idina Menzel, left and John Travolta present the award for best original song at the Oscars on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. With the announcement that John Travolta joins Harrison Ford, Halle Berry, Cara Delevingne, Kate Hudson, Pedro Pascal and other stars to present at the 95th Academy Awards Sunday night, Oscars fans have to be wondering if the “Grease” star will delight the world with another “Adele Dazeem” moment.
But Travolta had some trouble saying her name in his introduction of the “gorgeously empowering” song “Let It Go.” Apparently unable to read the teleprompter. Travolta announced that the performer was a “wickedly talented” person with the name “Adele Dazeem.” People watching from home broke out in laugher, while the audience at the show probably stiffed their laughter or sat confused.
At the Oscars the following year, host Neil Patrick Harris and Menzel herself cracked some jokes at Travolta’s expense. Menzel called Travolta “Glom Gazingo” when she asked him to come on stage and help her present that year’s best original song award. A smiling Travolta, often a bit of a goofy presence in public, was clearly happy to go along with the joke.
