I do see the problem with people in uniform taking a position on current controversies. Subordination of the military to civilian control is a vital principle of self-government. But I also see the problem with a political and cultural Establishment so ineptly self-satisfied that a large part of the populace wants to scream. As with Donald Trump, it’s past time the “blue ticks” unwrinkled their noses and took the problem they created seriously.

He ranted against toppling statues and erasing history, climate activists vandalizing art, replacing personal responsibility with collective apologies as “Individuals and groups fight over who gets to wear the coveted victims’ cloak,” gender-neutral military uniforms and “these days of entitlement, Me First, not my problem and endless subsidies and handouts” generally.the Ottawa Citizen
