John MacKay, a veteran of the road construction industry, was recognized by the Ontario Asphalt Pavement Council (OAPC) with the prestigious Bleeds Black Award for his unwavering dedication to promoting asphalt paving. The OAPC also celebrated other industry contributors with awards recognizing mentorship, volunteerism, and operational excellence.

John MacKay, a vice-president at Green Infrastructure Partners Inc., has been awarded the Ontario Asphalt Pavement Council 's Bleeds Black Award at the council's recent fall seminar. MacKay's long-time involvement in the road construction industry began in 1992 when he started working with KJ Beamish. The Bleeds Black Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional passion and dedication to promoting asphalt paving .

John Thomas, a partially-retired Beamish Construction employee with 51 years of service, received the Joe Bunting Mentorship Award. Mate Jurkin, GTA asphalt plant manager at Miller Paving, was presented with the Earl Kee Volunteer of the Year Award for his active participation in two OAPC committees. The presentation also highlighted six asphalt plants receiving Trillium Awards for exceeding industry operational requirements
