Cristina Ferrare, TV host and ex-wife of DeLorean, revisits her past in light of “Framing John DeLorean”—a documentary she believes accurately depicts her experience with the car magnate.

But she supported Zachary and Kathryn’s decision to speak to the filmmakers—and to talk about reconciling the greed of their father, who died in 2005, with the virtues of the man they each considered their best friend.
Zachary, who was about 12 when his father was arrested, has apparently had a more difficult journey processing this trauma. “How the fuck could you put our family in jeopardy like that?” Zachary wonders aloud in the film. While remembering his family’s penthouse, Zachary welcomes cameras into his “shitty little apartment,” featuring an unmade futon and tiny messy kitchen.she broke into tears. At two other points that day, she began sobbing uncontrollably.
“I can speak freely now because this movie depicts everything including what it did to my kids, especially to my son, Zachary,” Ferrare said. “I feel free. The blessing from this film for me is that Kathryn finally has closure.” Ferrare said she tried to shield her daughter from criticism at the time of DeLorean’s arrest—even going so far as to call every parent in Kathryn’s class to tell them, “You don’t have to be supportive of me or of John…but she’s a child.
