First Lady Jill Biden had tested positive for Covid and is experiencing mild symptoms, her communications director said. President Joe Biden tested negative on Monday evening and “will test at a regular cadence this week and monitor for symptoms,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

The Bidens visited Florida on Saturday to talk to those impacted by the hurricane. The president spoke at a Labor Day event in Philadelphia earlier on Monday.The Bidens each tested positive for Covid in the summer of 2022. After being treated with Paxlovid, the president experienced a rebound of the virus.

The first lady’s positive case comes amid an upswing in Covid in certain parts of the country. The most recent Centers for Disease Control information showed that hospitalizations had risen by 18.8% in the week ended Aug. 19.Must Read Stories
