Jay McGrath’s debut novel is set in a dystopian Newfoundland – a catastrophe provoked not by zombies, terrorism or a plague; McGrath has come up with something original.

Beckford is also a Catholic outport, so the priest, Father Peter, holds some sway, even as he gets more and more intractable and peculiar.
