C. - House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on Monday announced that he’s investigating an effort by the District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General to investigate conservative legal activistto D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb.
The probe of Schwalb’s office represents a return to form for Jordan, who had spent much of 2023 on various investigations meant to discredit Democrats before spending three weeks on aof the U.S. House of Representatives. He leads a committee investigating “weaponization” of the federal government and he has a prominent role in House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
It also seeks all documents and communications between or among the District of Columbia Office of Attorney General and third-party groups that relate to Leo and groups he’s affiliated with. It gave Schwalb’s office until Nov. 13 to respond. Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to be paid tens of thousands of dollars for consulting work, specifying thatFederal Election Commission records show Leo has made a pair of $2,900 contributions to U.S. Sen. JD. Vance of Cincinnati’s election campaign but don’t show any contributions to Jordan.
