Following the end of fashion month, Jill took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the Chanel show and all her fashion week experiences as a whole. “I can’t believe this just happened but... to end this fashion month, I walked my first fashion show for [Chanel]. I’m so thankful for this moment to happen and for everybody who made this happen,” she“There’s a much needed change happening on the runway and I’m proud and feel grateful to be a part of it.
commented, "Wow wow wow wow!!!! Congrats babe!!!!!!" while Felicity Hayward wrote, "Insane! I’m so proud of you." Jill's presence in the show is certainly a win for curve models. Being cast by a brand as iconic as Chanel could spark a shift in the brand's view and representation of body types. Of course, it should be noted that Jill is on the smaller side of the spectrum of plus-size, which many have raised questions about online.
Regardless, bearing in mind that European fashion weeks — particularly Paris — have long only used size zero models, Jill’s casting marks a huge change for the brand and industry as a whole. We’re only hoping September fashion month will be even more inclusive!
