The cast and producer of ImAVirgo detail creator and director BootsRiley's dedication to practical effects, even when creating a story centered around a 13-foot-tall Black man:

Even the biggest of people aren't prepared for what the world can be, as seen in I'm a Virgo. Created by Sorry to Bother You's Boots Riley, the Prime Video series centers on a 13-foot-tall 19-year-old Black man who seeks to discover the joys of the world and meet new people after being sheltered by his aunt and uncle.

Ahead of the show's premiere, Screen Rant spoke exclusively with executive producer/star Jharrel Jerome to discuss I'm a Virgo, the "mental gymnastics" of the practical effects behind the show, and more. I was just amazed at not only how creative the idea was, but the way he wanted to execute it, which was forced perspective, and very technical, and very real, and authentic. When you get somebody like Boots in front of you, all you know is that it's about to be strong, important work, and it's going to be a challenge, so that all just excited me to keep going with it.

Within a week, man, we were absolutely just obsessed with each other, hanging out all the time, even off set, so that brought a lot of the authenticity to the set. I also commend Boots for the idea of doing forced perspective, and shooting it practical, because it allowed the actors to fall into the world more. I'm around actual mini pieces and small things, so I felt gigantic, and that allowed me to slide into the performance a bit easier.
