The New York Jets didn't make a major move at the trade deadline.
Jets general manager Joe Douglas didn’t make a deal before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, despite the team’s glaring need for offensive line help after an avalanche of injuries in recent weeks.“We made a lot of calls on a lot of different positions,” Douglas said at the end of his post-deadline interview session, repeating the answer he had given multiple times earlier when asked why they didn’t get a deal done. “And again, it takes two to tango.
Douglas said he’s proud of the fight and mindset the offensive line has shown, but didn’t answer when asked how he felt the group would get through the rest of the season. He wouldn’t have fixed the Jets’ o-line. But even if there are questions about his health and play, adding him would have been helpful given the Jets’ dire situation. And it would have been well worth a sixth-round pick.“I won’t get into specific conversations,” Douglas said. “But I will say we had a lot of talks with a lot of different teams on a lot of players at a lot of different positions.
