WINNIPEG — Some were starting to whisper about a ‘Comrie Curse.’ Winnipeg Jets backup goalie Eric Comrie just could not buy a win in his previous eight outings (0-7-1).
Winnipeg Jets backup goalie Eric Comrie just could not buy a win in his previous eight outings . Although he played well, his teammates were not scoring enough goals for him to be able to post his fourth win of the season.
Comrie’s teammates had expressed how badly they felt for him during that dry spell and celebrated his victory. “But you know what? I know it has been a while since I won, but my game was right the whole time. I thought I was playing the right way. I mean, of course, it’s very frustrating. You're not winning, and it's tough. I think Flats and Helle kept my head on straight. But they were really happy the way I was playing.
"I mean, you never want to say, ‘Hey, I got to be perfect. I got to do this, and I got to be that.’ But I want to just play my game and be me and be what I have to and just do what I do, and have fun out there and play my structure. … I'm a competitive guy. I'm a human being. I want to win games. I want to win stuff."“We’re a very tight group in this room,” Comrie said. “All of us are very good friends. Scheifele … was the officiant at my wedding.
