The unsanctioned beach event is being promoted on social media for an as-yet undisclosed beach in the Wildwoods.
, authorities are warning they will shut down a planned “pop-up” beach party being promoted on social media.
All Wildwood beach communities have tried to contact the organizers to demand they stop promoting the event, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement Friday.Flyers circulated on Instagram by the “ratedrparties” account, however, list an event called “The Wildwood Beach Linkup” for May 12 and 13 starting at noon both days. The event touts “dance battles, twerking contests, beer pong and boxing matches.” A similar event is being advertised by the same group for Seaside Heights on May 5 and 6.
In the midst of the mayhem, motorist Gerald J. White, 37, hit a car and two pedestrians while fleeing another crash in Wildwood, authorities said. A passenger in the car he hit, Timothy Ogden, 34, of Clayton, and pedestrian Lindsay Weakland, 18, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, were killed, while a second passenger and another pedestrian were injured.
