Manzo told police that he and Fernandez tackled the man they had accused of breaking into Fernandez’s vehicle earlier that day.
The victim, 27, was hospitalized with broken jaws and other injuries after the incident. He was also arrested that day, but those charges were later dropped.Manzo was sued for his interference
in two projects in the city a developer was working on, but the lawsuit was dropped a week later. Manzo has been accused of going out of his way to effectively shut down projects on Waverly and Charles streets. In 2009 Manzo ran for a city council seat and was arrested in a corruption sting orchestrated by future Gov. Chris Christie.to accepting $5,000 in exchange for a promise to expediate a future development project. The charge was later dismissed when a judge ruled that only those in office who accepted the bribes could be charged under the federal corruption statute.
