Jeromy Farkas returns to Pacific Crest Trail with 'unfinished business' yyc
So when the former Calgary city councillor and second-place finisher in the 2021 mayoral contest ran into a roadblock last summer near Oregon’s Mount Jefferson during his fundraising journey across theThe 253-kilometre stretch of Oregon wilderness was closed due to wildfires, and Farkas was forced to find his way around the closed area, biking and hitchhiking his way back to the trail north of the closure.
“After setting foot back in Canada, I felt both a sense of relief but also unfinished business,” he said. “I immediately started thinking about going back — and as a hiker, completing the entire trail has been a really long-held dream of mine.” A year later, Farkas is back in Oregon, preparing to make that dream come true — and boost his fundraising total from last year.
