But perhaps the biggest question she answered was regarding her next move. Schneider said she’ll be taking a leave of absence from her software engineering job to focus on a new project. “I’m trying to put together a book proposal to see if that gets interest. That just really needs my focus. I’m really excited about it. The chance to put all the stuff I’ve been thinking my whole life into a book is kind of exciting,” Schneider said.
Schneider also outlined the financials involved in appearing on the show. She said that “Jeopardy!” doesn’t pay for the initial cost of travel and lodging for first-time contestants . The guaranteed third-place prize is $1,000, a reward that will help most contestants break even, but she realizes that not everyone has that luxury, and at first the costs were a hardship.
