Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt opens up about the deeply hurtful experience of being sexualized at a young age, revealing how constant objectification overshadowed her acting talent and left a lasting impact.

Jennifer Love Hewitt opened up about the negative impact of being sexualized as a teenager during an appearance on Dr. Mayim Bialik's podcast. She recalled experiences of being objectified and having inappropriate comments made about her body on talk shows by grown men when she was just 16 years old. Hewitt stated, 'There were grown men talking to me at 16 about my breasts openly on a talk show, and people were laughing about it.

' She expressed that while this behavior was widely accepted at the time, it now seems incredibly shocking. 'In hindsight, it was really strange, I think, to become a sex symbol before I even knew what that was. I didn't know what being sexy meant,' she admitted. Hewitt shared that the jokes often revolved around her body, even after her film 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' was released. 'When the movie came out, everybody said, 'Oh, I know what your breasts did last summer,' and that was, like, the joke. It didn't register with me that this is a grown man talking to me about my breasts on national television,' she revealed. This constant focus on her physical attributes was deeply hurtful for Hewitt, who felt overshadowed by her image rather than recognized for her acting talent. 'And instead, every headline — and I’m not even joking — for 10 or 12 years after that, it was always about my breasts, always first…That was heartbreaking for me,' she shared. The actress also confessed that she often wore oversized clothing to try and minimize attention directed at her body. 'I had bigger boobs for a smaller person, and so it was embarrassing. I didn’t want to be looked at by a 40-year-old in Pizza Hut,' she explained. Despite the discomfort these experiences caused, Hewitt maintains that she doesn't blame the individuals who made these comments, as it was a prevalent cultural norm at the time. She acknowledged, 'It was a culture that was fully accepted. They were allowed to believe that that was appropriate, and I answered the questions and laughed right along with them.' However, she recognizes the harmful nature of these interactions and hopes for a shift in societal norms towards greater respect and consideration for women and their bodies
