Royals 4 Blue Jays 1 Our starting pitchers are going to sue the hitters for lack of support. Tonight, Jose Berrios gave up just 2 runs in 7 innings. In the second, Sal Perez led off with a single, and Michael Massey followed with a home run , and that was all the runs the Royals would need. Jose pitched 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, and 2 runs, and he got the L. Erik Swanson gave up two more runs in the eighth. With two outs, Maikel Garcia singled and then stole second.
On our first hit, the play didn’t even end with a runner on base. With one out in the second, Davis Schneider lined one down the right-field line that Hunter Renfroe took on the first bounce. Davis rounded first hard but then slowed, like he was taking the single, but then sped up again and was thrown out fairly easily. I was sure I could hear the Jays dugout chanting ‘one of us’ right after. Just one of those brain-dead moments. We wouldn’t get another hit until the sixth inning.
