Japanese retail giant Uniqlo opens first store in Calgary

By Friday morning, hundreds of shoppers had lined outside the Chinook Centre store, to check out the promotional offers.

The Japanese retail giant opened its store, the second in Alberta, in a 15,000-square-foot space in Chinook Centre, four months after it had first announced its intention to launch a new space in Calgary.

Hundreds of eager shoppers line up for the opening of the Uniqlo store in Chinook Centre on Friday, Aug. 25.This marks the end of a long wait for many Calgarians, who adore the retailer for its inexpensive yet high-quality clothing, free of the pressure of seasonal fads and speedy trends, designed for casual, comfortable and staple wearing.
