Since Shinzo Abe's assassination, revelations about the former Unification Church's links to the ruling party have hit Prime Minister Kishida's support. Now he's moving against the church.
TOKYO—Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday ordered an investigation of the church founded by the late Rev. Moon Sun-myung, a step that could lead to the church being stripped of its legal status in Japan.
