Surprisingly, only 7 percent said they swear the most while driving. Less than half said they were most likely to swear in front of children.
The survey also found that the average age at which respondents started swearing was 11 and that the places they were most likely to use dirty words were at work, in front of strangers and at the dinner table. • 54 percent said the person they are most likely to swear at is themselves.
• The most likely scenarios to start people swearing were accidentally hurting themselves, expressing road rage and receiving bad news.• Favorite swear-word substitutions include"fudge,""shoot,""frick,""dang,""heck" and"holy cow."
