The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is asking for help identifying human remains found in a field near Brightman Boulevard more than ten years ago.JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is still working to identify human remains that were located in the city's Southside area more than ten years ago.
The renewed effort to identify the remains are part of JSO's monthly Cold Case Spotlight campaign, which seeks to feature a homicide that has been deemed a cold case. On Friday, March 8, 2013, members of a work crew who were clearing land near 10300 block of Brightman Boulevard at the dead end of St. Johns Bluff Road South found a human skull. Crews were able to locate a majority of the skeletal remains in the area where the skull was located. The remains were determined to be male, however, the victim's race, age, and identity have yet to be determined.
The Medical Examiner's Office ruled the victim's death a homicide after an autopsy found the he sustained trauma to the head which led to his death.
