J.Crew Group Inc. formally made plans to spin off its fast-growing Madewell brand.
The retail apparel company said Friday that it had filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering for Madewell’s parent, Chinos Holdings Inc. That company would be renamed Madewell Group Inc. before the completion of the offering.
