The 71st Annual Columbus Day Parade was held Monday afternoon.
A protest is planned for Monday over Columbus statues that were taken down in 2020.The parade started at State and Wacker around noon.
Antonia Bennett, the daughter of the late singer Tony Bennett, is serving as the parade's grand marshal.Local Italian activists held a rally three years after the removal of three Christopher Columbus statues around the city. They are demanding the Johnson Administration return the statues to their original locations in Grant Park, Arrigo Park, and South Chicago.
