Chester House in Chester, Nova Scotia took two years to design and build. Completed in 2021, it measures 1,350 square feet. The sleeping area is on the ground level with two bedrooms. Lofts for additional sleeping space and storage can be reached by scaling ladders in the living room and kitchen.You were asked to create a straightforward home that feels good, Brian. How did you do that?
It’s like a house with a thick wall, and, in the thickness of the wall, are secondary spaces that open into the main space. You have a bay window, a balcony, these things that live in the interstitial space, the space between the central room and the outside wall of the house.
