On Wednesday evening, she’ll stand in front of those who gather in Yorkton for a candlelight vigil, in honour of Mekayla.
Tips are still trickling in, which Paula passes along to RCMP, but at a much slower pace than the initial flood. She said “nothing has come of anything to date.”Advertisement 4Last year, Paula was hopeful it would incentivize someone with information to come forward. A year later, she still holds out hope.“Time goes forward, whether you want it to or not,” she said. “I see Mekayla’s friends on social media, and they’re having babies and doing their careers, and it’s hard.
To date, more than 1,000 tips have been reported to the Saskatchewan RCMP in relation to Mekayla’s disappearance — 200 more than the RCMP’s last reported in May 2022. With so few new leads, Paula encouraged anyone with information to contact police, either for the first time or to reshare, to prompt a re-examining of Mekayla’s case.Paula’s search for Mekayla will continue, but she admitted she’s feeling the pressures of time and dwindling supports. She expressed appreciation for the continued efforts of police, but said it feels a little like she’s in “limbo-land,” awaiting answers.
