Apparently no such moves are on the table for Ross Atkins. In fact, the beleaguered GM of the struggling team continues to be resolute in his belief that positive change will come internally and those three names will be central to improvement happening.

“But because are so talented and such great teammates they are attractive to other teams so they will call. What does make sense, according to Atkins, is trying to find a way to extend the two stars who have long been viewed as the cornerstones of the franchise and are eligible to hit free agency following the 2025 season. Rather than trade, Atkins said the team has actively been talking contract with the players and their representatives.

With a record of 28-30, the Jays face a tough stretch of their schedule for the remainder of the month beginning Monday night at the Rogers Centre with a four-game series against the reigning AL East champion Baltimore Orioles. At least the Jays have won five of their previous six to show signs of working their way back into a playoff race.

While acknowledging the Jays need to start winning – as their residency in the AL East basement certainly proclaims – Atkins believes Schneider is the man to lead the team out of the morass.
