Israel's military massed troops on the border with Gaza as airstrikes pummeled the Palestinian enclave in the wake of Saturday's attack by Hamas.
Elon Musk's social-media platform X defended itself against accusations from a top European Union official that it might be violating the bloc's content-moderation rules by not doing enough to stem the spread of allegedly illegal posts about the war between Israel and Hamas.
Linda Yaccarino, chief executive of X, formerly known as Twitter, said the company had removed hundreds of Hamas-affiliated accounts and labeled or removed of tens of thousands of posts since the start of the conflict. She said that the company's Community Notes fact-checking feature was being applied within minutes to videos and images when reposted, and added that the company had responded to 80 take-down requests from EU countries.
