The NYIslanders have signed goaltender Ilya Sorokin to a one-year contract for the 2020-21 season. Details ⤵️
Sorokin joins the Islanders after eight seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League where he had a 134-64-22 record to go along with a 1.70 GAA and .930 save percentage. The 24-year-old was named the 2019 KHL Playoff MVP after leading CSKA Moscow to a KHL Gagarin Championship.
The Islanders drafted Sorokin in the third round of the 2014 NHL Draft. The Russian will be allowed to practice with the team, but won’t be eligible to play in any games for the remainder of the season.
