after the teams brawled to finish the third period of a game at UBS Arena
, the Islanders and Flyers started Tuesday’s match with two fights within 10 seconds of the opening faceoff. Matt Martin and Zack MacEwen — who were seen exchanging words at the red line during warmups — dropped their gloves seven seconds into the game. When both were escorted into the penalty box taking five minutes apiece for fighting, Ross Johnston and Nic Deslauriers, who instigated the situation on Saturday by jumping Alexander Romanov, went at each other off the next faceoff.
Johnston and Martin both ended up on the ground, but these were two verifiably heavyweight bouts, with all four getting in some good punches. There had been some question as to whether Saturday’s antics would carry over into Tuesday. Even with Tony DeAngelo, who fought Oliver Wahlstrom on Long Island Saturday, out of the lineup, they did.
