Ceremony held at PISE
The Athletics Canada Western Hub training centre at PISE, with the support of the 94Forward Commonwealth Games legacy fund and Canadian Sport Institute-Pacific, celebrated its prolific medal haul from the 2024 Paris Paralympics last summer with a celebration ceremony held Tuesday at PISE.
“It took an incredible amount of effort from a lot of people. It means the world to me that I had this support and it’s so great to bring the medals back here to thank everybody for their contributions. I’ve been in this sport for 20 years and represented Canada at four world championships and two Paralympics and never got better than fourth place prior to coming out here to Victoria.
“When you think of the Paralympics or Olympics, you don’t think of an empty stadium, so the experience in Paris was obviously way different than Tokyo,” said Riech.
