After Tony Stark created his first Iron Man suit, he committed himself to living the life of a superhero. Not long after his debut, Iron Man helped form the Avengers, and has regularly served as an integral member of the team ever since. Throughout that time, Iron Man has had to deal with tech-based villains like Iron Monger, magic-utilizing villains like the Mandarin, and even cosmic threats like Thanos.
Iron Man Becomes A Supernatural Hero With Van Helsing Suit In 2010, Marvel Comics launched an initiative called ‘Iron Man by Design’, which challenged artists to come up with new and interesting Iron Man designs that would be featured on variant covers across a number of Marvel Comics titles. On an Iron Man By Design variant cover for X-Force #204 created by artist Fred Genêt, Iron Man is shown wearing the Van Helsing suit .
While this costume isn’t strictly canon, as it never appeared in an actual Marvel Comics storyline, it is an interesting look at what could be done with Iron Man’s character. There is a very prominent corner of the Marvel Universe that deals specifically with the supernatural, and it’s one that doesn’t include an A-list superhero like Spider-Man, Captain America, or Iron Man.
Whether Iron Man makes the move from Avengers leader to monster hunter remains to be seen, though at least fans will always have this absolutely amazing look at what could be, as Tony Stark combines with Hugh Jackman’s Van Helsing in jaw-dropping variant cover artwork.
