Security forces use tear gas and live ammunition on Iraq's protesters, killing two and wounding several, security and medical sources say
An anti-government protester flashes the victory gesture as he stands before flaming tires at a makeshift roadblock during a demonstration in the central Iraqi holy shrine city of Najaf on January 20, 2020.
In Baghdad's Tayaran Square overnight, protesters threw petrol bombs and stones at police who responded with tear gas and stun grenades, Reuters witnesses said. They say Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi has not fulfilled promises including naming a new government acceptable to Iraqis. Baghdad police said its forces had successfully reopened all the roads that were closed by "violent gatherings."
